The platform is designed in a way that even in the unlikely event when all of its control servers go offline, the active Cloud servers on the hypervisors will continue to process uninterrupted.
The redundancy is organized in an N+1 configuration, wherein the content and configuration of the main server is replicated in real time on at least one other server, which can automatically replace the first in case of failure.
A broad range of the server parameters are monitored 24x7x365 in real time through a special IPMI controller and a specialized monitoring system – temperature of the processors of the whole system and hard drives, performance of the cooling fans, voltage values of the power modules, S.M.A.R.T status of the hard disk drives, used disk space, RAM load, processor load, network connections, number of running processes, etc. The monitoring allows on-time diagnosis, prevention or troubleshooting of possible problems on the server.
The network connectivity of the servers is completely redundant and all connections go through several independent network controllers and devices.
The platform uses Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, routers and firewalls by leading global brands to provide the connections between different components of the platform and to provide the Internet connection. All devices and network routes are duplicated, which ensures the redundant connection in case of a problem with one of them. The separate network routes are aggregated through different technologies for link aggregation (NIC bonding, LACP, Multipath, etc.) For higher security and to avoid interference, the different types of traffic are isolated in several different networks.
Hypervisors are powerful physical servers in conjunction with specialized software for virtualization. The software allows one or more virtual (Cloud) servers to be run on top of the physical ones. The software features an extremely valuable automatic fail-over process if a hypervisor becomes unavailable. The redundancy is organized in an N+1 configuration, wherein there are always free hypervisors ready to take the load of all Cloud servers in case of an issue or need of maintenance. GTM CLOUD uses technologies and good practices for additional redundancy on the physical server level.
The storage system is installed on hypervisors and aggregates the performance and capacity of all of the drives into a single shared pool of block storage, distributed between the servers. You can achieve extremely high productivity and seamless processing of large amount of IOPS for business critical systems and applications, Depending on your need of resources you can have volumes on SATA drives, other volumes on SSDs or volumes on mixture of HDD and SSD drives (hybrid).
The platform utilizes secondary servers for storing the archived backups of the Cloud servers and the sets of operating systems and software, available as cloud optimized installation templates. The backup servers use reliable enterprise hard drive models (SATA 3.0), designed and optimized to work 24x7x365 even on heavy load. The drives are arranged in a hardware RAID 6 configuration, ensuring SAN uninterruptible processing even if several of the disks fail.
The GTM CLOUD platform is managed by several servers with specialized software. The software enables the administrative control and monitoring of the entire platform and provides users with an option to control their services via a web-based control panel. The software installation is performed on high-speed hard drives (15000rpm SAS 2.0), arranged in a hardware RAID 1 configuration ensuring the uninterrupted processing in case of a problem with some of the disks.
